Orphan Sunday Communion Set Message

As the Director of Pastoral Outreach for Orphan Sunday I have been blessed with the opportunity to speak and interact with people all over the world that are pouring out their hearts and their hands for these forgotten children both domestically and internationally.  A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to bring together my work as a pastor in a small church and my work with Orphan Sunday.

Orphan Sunday was donated two  handmade wooden communion sets to be given to one small church for their work on Orphan Sunday and one State Coordinator for nominating church the winning church.

During the weekly message  on November 17 we shared the stories  of the churches that were nominated asked the congregation to vote on  which church should receive the communion set.

The message was based  on Ephesians 4:11-16 and the work of  Alan Hirsch, author of "The Forgotten Way" you can connect to Alan Hirsch's websites through the links below.

The  message title was APEST

Apostle, Prophets, Evangelist, Shepherds, Teachers.

The church heard the Scriptures,   Alan Hirsch's explanation of APEST and then they heard the  nomination stories of each of the churches.  then the congregation was asked to vote which church showed all 5 aspects found in Ephesians 4.  The church was evenly divided between the 3 churches and could not decide which one should be chosen,   The church decided to give each church a communion set and one set for one State Coordinator. You can here the message below
